Greetings with Gusto!

Nightly, my mom asked Dad, "How was your lunch?"

"I ate it with Gusto," he said.

The day of the salami sandwich, he said, "Good!"

I waited. "Didn't you eat with your friend?"

They looked at each other.  "What friend?"

"Gusto!"

I remember their joyous laughter as I learned a new word! Gusto: enjoyment or vigor in doing something. My new friend.

Welcome to my new website, where I share my Sensory Awareness Network for all lovers of self-discovery. In the adventure of living a "Daily Rite,"  I make much out of each moment, practicing ease in well-being with sense experiments, prompts, that share a common denominator of play.

Sense experiments, of any time length, 20 minutes, or a 60-minute session, integrate, ease of well-being into daily activities. With ABC--Align, Breathe, and Connect--we feel  ourselves in whatever pose, posture or position we find ourselves.  Gravity is our shared common denominator. It grounds and holds us.  I am not a helium balloon. I trust palpable physics. Here we begin the "art and science of being." You are invited to an Open House of "Sensing with Shelley" for details click here.

ExperimentWalk through your day aware of the connection with the earth.Underfoot, under tush, even lean against a wall. Try it. Yield. Give up. Let your hair down. Let your burdens down. Discover buoyant resilience. What happens when you give up your weight? What holds you deep in the micro fibers? Where does your curiosity lead you? Keep asking questions.

Sense experiments allow for deep investigation, a group endeavor where concentration is enhanced and allows us to establish a relationship with ourselves, gravity, the elements of nature, and each other. Our comfort, safety and ability to uncurl begin with this connection. When we Align, Breathe and Connect, we become present, or begin to become aware that presence has been missing. We now have a chance to arrive in the present.

Everything is transition. We get swept along with the day's events, caught here and there, knocked over, knocked out, or affected by our emotional reactivity and responses. Remembering to connect with the earth, ground, settle into our shoes, our feet against the earth, barefoot, better still!

Alight the inner child's curiosity to play a game rather than take it on as an assignment. Like a grown up peek-a-boo, how many times can you discover your presence throughout the day and when you do--- when you remember to touch the earth, yield, release the inner grips that you may have become comfortable with, so much so that the tension feels normal, when that clench releases-- then what happens?  Where will each step bring you when you allow for life to truly touch you?

Write to me please, share your discoveries: shelley@shelleyhainer.com

You are invited to an Open House: September 27, 29, 30. For details click here.
